About Sushi ZenRestaurant InfoRestaurant MenuJapanese Culture

Kirin Sushi, situated between Ocean Beach and Point Loma, on Voltaire Street, at Nimitz, opened its doors in 2002. We are a neighborhood sushi house, but you don't have to be a local to feel like you're part of our family. We offer a fun, vibrant atmosphere, and you can feel comfortable bringing the entire family and all your friends.

Kirin is a Japanese unicorn derived from Chinese mythology, an animal-god who punishes the wicked with its single horn. It protects the just and grants them good luck. Seeing a kirin is considered an omen of extreme good luck - if one is a virtuous person. We offer many opportunities to witness the Kirin upon entering our dining room!

Japanese food is called wa-shoku in Japanese. Wa means harmony. The most significant characteristic of Japanese food is the harmonious coexistence of variety of tastes in a dish. Good Japanese chefs try to present a dish in which you can taste many different flavors and textures and enjoy many different colors, yet no one flavor dominates, leaving a delicate balance, a magical and indefinable tasting experience.
